Daily Recommended Intake of Calories


We need energy to perform all kinds of daily activities. And we get this energy from the food we eat. The calories intake mainly depends on factors like age, gender height and weight. It also depends on your goals as well. For instance some people want to maintain their weight while there are other who want to either lose or gain weight.
 

Gaining/Losing Weight

 

Do you know how many calories are there in a pound of fat? The right answer is 3,500 calories. Losing two pounds of weight per week is possible, if you are serious about losing your weight. You can do so by simply reducing your calories intake by 1,000 per day. Trying to lose more than one thousand calories will send your body into fasting mode and in simple words it will badly affect your weight-loss program. So you need to reduce the number of calories consumed per day if you want to lose the weight. Similarly if you want to gain 1 pound per week, you need to add 500 calories per day.
 

Calories in Food

 

Food is the main source of calories for use. One gram of fat contains nine calories. Protein and carbohydrate contain 4 calories each. This information is important if you want to calculate the total number of calories using the formula stated above. Your choice of food depends a lot on the health and fitness goals you want to achieve.
 

Homeostasis

 

Homeostasis means a person is in a state of balance. It mean you are consuming calories according your body’s requirement. There is simple formula using which you can calculate the number of calories your body needs to perform daily activities. Here is the formula Total calories = 12 x body weight. It is important to know that average man requires average of 2500 calories per day. And average woman on the other hand requires average of 1800 calories per day.
